Heat Pumps

Residential

A convenient and energy-efficient way to heat AND cool your home, all year long

Heat pumps are heating and cooling systems that work by moving heat indoors during the cold fall and winter months and drawing heat outdoors in the warmer spring and summer months. They are powered by electricity and do not burn fossil fuels like furnaces do, making them environmentally friendly systems that are affordable to operate. Heat pumps also tend to last longer than other heating and cooling systems, which is why they are increasingly more popular for many Massachusetts homeowners.

Versatile and quiet with updated technology

Heat pumps work by pulling heat from the air outside (or, if you have a geothermal heat pump, from the ground), circulating refrigerant between the outdoor compressor and an indoor air unit, then distributing it inside. Conversely, during warm months, this process is reversed, sending heat outside of your home and providing you with cool air.

They can be used in both ducted and ductless configurations.

For some people in colder climates, such as New England, homeowners find it cost-effective to utilize a dual fuel system. These systems switch to a high-efficiency furnace to generate heat if temperatures drop too low for the heat pump to work at the most effective level. With advances in heat pump technology, a dual system is not always necessary and frequently, a heat pump can handle the home’s entire heating and cooling needs.

Our team of experienced engineers and technicians can evaluate your home’s setup and heating and cooling needs to provide you with the most efficient and effective options. Our home consultations are always without charge or obligation.
